Her birthplace was Santa Monica in California on 26 November 1986. The singer is the child of father Vincenzo Barba, and mother Valerie Barba. The family moved from Point Pleasant New Jersey when she was 6 years old. Red Bank Catholic High School was where she got her education formal at the time in New Jersey. Then she attended Catholic University, where she received a degree in architecture. Her first violin lessons began when she was four years old, and became known by the name Violin Girl. Due to her performance her performance, she received that name. She also taught children from the locality on how to play the violin. She performed Free throughout 1976 when she made her audition to the sixth season of American Idol, at the age of 19. But she was eliminated following finishing 16th in the competition.
